Maha Shivratri Celebrated Across Nation

  • Shivratri is said to be the night when Shiva and Shakti, the masculine and feminine energies that keep the planet in balance, come together. This is an important festival in Hindu culture that commemorates ‘overcoming darkness and ignorance in life.’
  • Maha Shivratri is being celebrated across the country today. Devotees worship Lord Shiva, the destroyer of evil, on this occasion. In Uttar Pradesh, a large number of people are reaching Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi to offer prayers. Devotees are also taking holy dip in Ganges. In Prayagraj, devotees are taking holy dip at Sangam.
  • In the national capital, temples have been decorated and people started offering prayers early this morning. Long queues of devotees are being witnessed at most of the Lord Shiva temples in Delhi.

12th Annual Aegis Graham Bell Awards

  • The 46th Civil Accounts Day will be celebrated on 2nd March 2022 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi. Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman will be the Chief Guest. Finance Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan, and Smt. Sonali Singh, Head of the Organisation will grace the occasion along with other dignitaries.
  • Finance Minister Smt. Sitharaman will launch a major e-governance initiative – the Electronic Bill (e-Bill) processing system as part of ease of doing business and Digital India eco-system. A Budget 2022-23 announcement, the e- Bill system will be implemented across all Central Ministries and Departments. This will be a further step to enhance transparency, efficiency and faceless- paperless payment system. Suppliers and contractors will now be able to submit their claim online which will be trackable in real time basis.
  • The day-long programme will have two technical sessions – a keynote address by Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog on “Reforms in Public Financial Management”, and a presentation on “General Guidelines on Procurement and Project Management” by Shri Sanjay Aggarwal, Advisor, Procurement Policy Division, Ministry of Finance.

  • National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Celebrates its 17th Foundation Day

  • In Children’s Welfare Lies The Foundation Of A Strong Nation: Union Minister, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani
  • She  also complemented the collaboration between NCPCR & Border Security Force for the special initiative called ‘SAHARA’, which is an initiative to provide psycho-social counselling & support to children of BSF jawans who made the supreme sacrifice.
  • The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is an Indian statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005. The Commission works under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI. The Commission began operational on 5 March 2007.
  • The Commission is mandated under section 13 of CPCR Act, 2005 “to ensure that all Laws, Policies, Programmes, and Administrative Mechanisms are in consonance with the Child Rights perspective as enshrined in the Constitution of India and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.“ As defined by the commission, child includes person up to the age of 18 years.

Arogya Vanam Inaugurated At Rashtrapati Bhavan

  • President Ram Nath Kovind today inaugurated a hub of medicinal herbs and plants ‘Arogya Vanam’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and First Lady Savita Kovind.
  • The Arogya Vanam has been developed in a 6.6 acre area and it has 215 types of medicinal plants like Neem, Tulsi, Bel, Arand, Arjun, Ashwagandha and Harsingar. Aroma Garden, Lotus Pond, Water Channels, Yog Manch  and a ViewPoint are also part of Arogya Vanam.

Janaushadhi Diwas

  • Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals is going to celebrate their 4th Jan Aushadhi, Diwas on 7th March.
  • All the activities will be organised within the spirit of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and several events have been planned at 75 locations.
  • This will generate awareness about the usages of generic medicines and benefits of Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana.
  • The theme of this year’s (2022) Janaushadhi Diwas is Jan Aushadhi-Jan Upyogi.

International Intellectual Property Index 2022

  • India has improved its overall International Intellectual Property (IIP) score from 38.4% to 38.6%, and the country is ranked 43rd out of 55 countries on the International Intellectual Property Index.
  • International Intellectual Property Index is an annual report compiled by the US Chambers of Commerce.
  • This year (2022) the index is topped by the US with 95.4%.
  • US Chambers of Commerce: It is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
  • The group was founded in April 1912 out of local chambers of commerce at the urging of President William Howard Taft and his Secretary of Commerce and Labour Charles Nagel.

Pooja Jatyan Wins Silver At Para Archery World Championships

  • Rookie para-archer Pooja Jatyan on Sunday scripted history as she became the first Indian to win a silver in an individual section of the Para Archery World Championships 2022 in Dubai. India has won 2 Silver medals for the first time in the Para Archery World Championship.
  • Pooja lost to Italian Petrilli Vincenza in the summit clash to end her World Para Championships dream run with a silver medal. Pooja, who has been afflicted with polio since childhood, put up a brave show racing to a 3-1 lead, but the world No. 7 Italian used her vast experience to bounce back and down the Indian by 3-7  (24-24, 23-21, 26-28, 24-26, 25-27) in the finals.
  •  Earlier, The compound mixed pair of Shyam Sundar Swami and Jyoti Baliyan had opened India’s account with a silver medal, the country’s first medal in the World Archery Para Championships
