Mod Signs Contract Worth 1075 Crore With BEL

Providing a further boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the GOI in the Defence Sector, the Acquisition Wing of the Ministry of Defence has signed a contract for Rs. 1075 crore with M/s Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the retro-modification of Commander Sight of Battle Tanks-T-90.
- The retro-modification will be carried out in 957 T-90 tanks of the Indian Army.
- Commander sight of Battle Tank T-90, India’s premier battle tank, is presently fitted with Image Converter (IC) tube-based sight for night viewing.
- Based on the requirement projected by the Indian Army, DRDO and BEL have jointly designed and developed an advanced Mid Wave Thermal Image (MWIR) based sight as a replacement for the existing IC-based sight.
- The new retro-modified Commander sight employs a thermal imager capable of detecting the targets at 8 Kms during day and night and a Laser Ranger Finder to find the ranges accurately up to 5 Kms.
- With the corrections from ballistic software and LRF, the Commander of T-90 can detect, engage and neutralize the targets with phenomenal accuracy.

Exercise Dharma Guardian 2022

The 3rd Edition of Joint Military Exercise Dharma Guardian b/w Indian Army & will be conducted at Belagavi, Karnataka from 27 Feb to 10 Mar 22. The joint exercise will focus on operations in Jungle & Semi-Urban/Urban terrain.

Boeing Delivers 12th P-8I Aircraft to Indian Navy

Boeing has delivered the 12th P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to the Indian Navy.
This is the fourth of four additional aircraft delivered under the options contract signed by the Ministry of Defence in 2016.
The P-8I aircraft is a variant of the P-8A Poseidon aircraft that Boeing developed as a replacement for the US Navy’s ageing P-3 fleet.
P-8I aircraft is equipped for long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance in support of the broad area, maritime and littoral operations.

MOD Signs Mou to Onboard Pension Services Under SPARSH

Defence Accounts Department (DAD) of MOD has signed an MoU with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, a special purpose vehicle under Ministry of E & IT, to onboard pension services under the System for Pension Administration {SPARSH} initiative across more than four lakh Common Service Centres all over the country.
SPARSH (System for Pension Administration Raksha) is an initiative of MOD that aims at providing a comprehensive solution to the administration of pension to the defence pensioners in line with the Government’s vision of ‘Digital India’, DBT and ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.’

Indo-Pacific Strategy of US Interferes In China

China’s military on Thursday slammed the recently released “Indo-Pacific Strategy” of the United States, saying it interferes with its domestic affairs.
China, which has territorial disputes with many countries in the strategic Indo-Pacific region, has been opposing the US proactive policy specifically in the disputed South China Sea.
The US report hyped up foreign threats and tried to form exclusive cliques yet claimed to promote regional freedom, openness, prosperity and security, which is “void of any logic or reason,” Senior Colonel Tan Kefei, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defence, told an online press conference.
