World’s First Genetically Modified Rubber

  • The Rubber plant is the first of its kind developed exclusively for this region and is expected to grow well under the climatic conditions of the mountainous northeastern region.

60th Anniversary of the Antarctic Treaty Celebrated

6th Anniversary of Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT and PMAY-U

  • Smart City Mission – GoI launched the 100 smart cities mission in 2015. The objective is to integrate city functions, utilize scarce resources more efficiently, and improve the quality of life of citizens. To improve the efficiencies of municipal services.
  • AMRUT Mission (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) – Aims – Reduce Pollution, Tap Water Connection, Sewerage Connection, greenery, and well-maintained open spaces etc. (in 500 cities with more than 1 lakh population)
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an initiative by the Government of India in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 2 crore affordable houses by 31 March 2022.
  • The focus on the urban sector during the last 6 years can be gauged by the infusion of overall investments to the tune of Rs. 12 lakh crores

Prasar Bharti Goes Paperless

  • Thanks to ICT in less than 2 years, 577 Centers and 22,348 employees of DD, AIR have embraced e-Office operations.
  • With the vision to make Prasar Bharati operations more efficient and paperless, e-Office was introduced in August 2019.
  • Prasar Bharati, is India’s largest public broadcasting agency, headquartered in New Delhi. It is a statutory autonomous body.

Karwar Naval Base – ‘Project Seabird’

  • The largest naval infrastructure project for India, it involves creation of a naval base at Karwar on the west coast of India.
  • Upon completion, this $3 billion program and effort will provide the Indian Navy with its largest naval base on the west coast and the largest naval base east of the Suez Canal.
