- International Day Of Remembrance Of The Victims Of Slavery And The Transatlantic Slave Trade Is A United Nations International Observance Designated In 2007 To Be Marked On 25 March Every Year.
- The Day Honors And Remembers Those Who Suffered And Died Because Of The Transatlantic Slave Trade, Which Has Been Called “The Worst Violation Of Human Rights In History”, In Which Over 400 Years More Than 15 Million Men, Women, And Children Were The Victims.
- It Was First Observed In 2008 With The Theme “Breaking The Silence, Lest We Forget”. The Theme Of 2015 Was “Women And Slavery”. The International Day Also “Aims At Raising Awareness About The Dangers Of Racism And Prejudice Today”
- Theme For 2022: “Stories of Courage: Resistance to Slavery and Unity against Racism”
Day Of Solidarity Detained & Missing Staff Members
- The International Day Of Solidarity With Detained And Missing Staff Members Is Observed Annually On 25 March By The United Nations.
- It Commemorates The Anniversary Of The Abduction Of Alec Collett, A Former Journalist Who Was Working For The United Nations Relief And Works Agency For Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) When He Was Kidnapped By Gunmen In 1985.

Usha Mehta Remembered On Her Jayanthi
- Usha Mehta (25 March 1920 – 11 August 2000) was a Gandhian and freedom fighter of India.
- She is also remembered for organizing the Congress Radio, also called the Secret Congress Radio, an underground radio station, which functioned for a few months during the Quit India Movement of 1942.
- In 1998, the Government of India conferred on her Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India.
Tributes Paid To Vasant Gowarikar On His Jayanthi
- Vasant Ranchhod Gowarikar (25 March 1933 – 2 January 2015) Was An Indian Scientist. He Was A Director In The Indian Space Research Organization And The Scientific Advisor To The Prime Minister Of India In 1991–1993.
- Gowarikar Made Valuable Contributions To The Fields Of Space Research, Weather, And Population.
- He Was Well Known For His Monsoon Forecast Model As He Was The First Scientist To Develop An Indigenous Weather Forecasting Model That Predicted The Monsoon Correctly.
“eSanjeevani” Records 3 Crore Tele-consultations
- India has crossed a landmark milestone in its eHealth journey. eSanjeevani telemedicine service of Union Health Ministry has crossed 3 crore teleconsultations. Also, “eSanjeevani” telemedicine has set a record by completing 1.7 lakhs consultations in a day.
- In some States, the service is operational on all days of the week and a few States are running it round the clock, as well. The telemedicine service contributed considerably during COVID- 19 and it decreased the load on hospitals and helped patients to digitally/remotely consult medical professionals. This has helped in bridging the rural-urban divide by taking quality health services to the homes of beneficiaries.
- eSanjeevani, the first-of-its-kind telemedicine initiative by any country has two variants:
- eSanjeevani Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centre(AB-HWC): A Doctor-to-Doctor telemedicine service under Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres scheme of the Government of India, to provide general and specialized health services in rural areas and isolated communities. Doctor-to-Doctor telemedicine service is based on a Hub-and-Spoke model.
- eSanjeevaniOPD: This is a patient-to-doctor telemedicine service to enable people to get outpatient services in the confines of their homes. ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ has also been speedily and widely adopted by citizens in all parts of the country. It is available as a mobile app for both Android and iOS based smart phones, and these apps have seen over 3 million downloads.
NITI Aayog Export Preparedness Index 2021
- Gujarat has retained the top position at the NITI Aayog’s second edition of the Export Preparedness Index 2021 followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana as the top 10 performers.
- Among union territories, Delhi has topped the index followed by Goa, Jammu, Kashmir, Chandigarh, and Puducherry while Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, and Manipur were at the top five paces among Himalayan states.
- The index, prepared by NITI Aayog in partnership with the Institute of Competitiveness, is a comprehensive analysis of India’s export achievements. The index is used to benchmark the performance of states and UTs against their peers and analyze potential challenges to develop better policy mechanisms to foster export-led growth at the subnational level.
- The EPI ranks states and UTs on four main pillars, policy; business ecosystem; export ecosystem, and export performance along with 11 sub-pillars that includes export promotion policy; institutional framework; business environment; infrastructure; transport connectivity; access to finance; export infrastructure; trade support; R&D infrastructure; export diversification and growth orientation.
- As per the 2021 Index, the three major challenges to India’s export promotion include intra- and inter-regional differences in export infrastructure; weak trade support and growth orientation across states; and lack of R&D infrastructure to promote complex and unique exports.
