Belagavi recently hosted a significant military ceremony as 494 Agniveers from the 6th Batch were officially attested at The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC). The event featured a ceremonial parade that showcased the precision and immaculate drill of the new recruits, commanded by Agniveer Pawan Yallakuri. The parade was reviewed by Major General Hari Bhaskaran Pillai, the Additional Director General of Recruiting for States.
These young soldiers, having successfully completed rigorous training, are set to join one of the Indian Army’s most esteemed infantry regiments. Their dedication and discipline were evident throughout the parade, reflecting the high standards set by the military.
A standout moment during the ceremony was the presentation of the Naik Yashwant Ghadge, VC Medal to Agniveer Suraj More, who earned the title of Best Agniveer of the batch. This accolade serves to honor one of the regiment’s most celebrated war heroes, reinforcing the connection between the new generation of soldiers and their storied predecessors.
The event included the traditional Oath of Affirmation, wherein the Agniveers reiterated their commitment to serving the nation with courage and honor. Following this, the attendees participated in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Sharqat War Memorial, paying tribute to the valiant warriors who have laid down their lives in service.
In a touching moment, the parents of the newly attested Agniveers were recognized with the Gaurav Padak. This gesture reflects the Army’s appreciation for the immense support and sacrifices made by families of the soldiers.
This ceremony not only marks a significant milestone for the new recruits but also underscores the ongoing efforts to cultivate a motivated and mission-ready cadre of soldiers for the future of the Indian Army.
