EXTENDED RANGE BRAHMOS Successfully FIRED

  • The Indian Navy successfully demonstrated the accuracy of an extended-range land-attack Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai, on 5th March 2022. The missile hit its intended target with pinpoint accuracy after traversing an extended range trajectory and performing complex manoeuvres.
    •  Both Brahmos missile and INS Chennai are indigenously built and highlight the cutting-edge of Indian missile and ship-building prowess. They reinforce the Indian Navy’s contribution towards the Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India endeavours.
    • This achievement establishes the Indian Navy’s ability to strike even deeper and influence land operations further away from the sea, when and where required. 

Lamp Lighting Ceremony of Military Nursing Service

  • Lamp Lighting Ceremony of first year BSc(H) Nursing students (2021 batch) of College of Nursing was held on 05 March 2022 in New Delhi. The ceremony witnessed 30 Nursing Cadets don the students uniform to begin their professional journey. Lt Gen AK Jindal, Commandant, Army Hospital (R&R) was the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
  • The General Officer awarded the meritorious students of College of Nursing. He stressed upon the fact that the students need to keep abreast of the latest advances in health care and maintain soft skills and professional touch during day-to-day activities.
  •    The solemn ceremony witnessed the traditional lighting of the lamp by Maj Gen Smita Devrani ADGMNS, Maj Gen Amita Rani, Principal Matron and other officials of the College. Then the light transferred to the teachers and students of the 1st year BSc(H) Nursing symbolising the transfer of knowledge & wisdom from one generation to the next.

EXERCISE MILAN 22 CONCLUDES

  • The sea phase of the 11th edition of MILAN which witnessed the participation of 26 ships, one submarine, and 21 aircraft, culminated on 04 Mar 22.

CISF Celebrates 53rd Raising Day

  • The CISF celebrated its 53rd Anniversary Day on 6 March 2022.
  • The union Home minister said CISF, raised in 1969, worked like a silent “karmayogi” to ensure the country’s industrial development and secured the private manufacturing production units as India rode on to become a USD 2.5 trillion-strong economy.
  • CISF provides security cover to over 300 industrial units.
  • Its current active strength is 148,371 personnel. In April 2017, the government raised the sanctioned strength from 145,000 to 180,000 personnel.

Initiative For Fishermen ‘Sagar Parikrama’ Flagged Off  

  • Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Parshottam Rupala outlined that the “Sagar Parikrama” initiative will be aimed at understanding “challenges, experiences and aspirations of fishermen community”, look at the scope of seafood exports, as well as popularise schemes that the fishing community in coastal areas can avail of.
  • Sagar Parikrama is proposed to be conducted in all coastal states and Union Territories through a pre-decided sea route, from Gujarat, Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands, it was stated.

  • As Russia marches on its warpath, encircling Ukrainian cities and bombing civilian buildings, the Pentagon has deployed some 12,000 troops to NATO member nations within spitting distance of Ukraine, a massing of infantry, aircraft, and tanks not seen since the Cold War.
