  • Every year, on February 11, the birth Anniversary of Hakim Ajmal Khan is celebrated as World Unani Day. He was an Indian Unani Physician and a social reformer. The main aim of the World Unani Day is to spread awareness about Unani medical system, its preventive and curative philosophies.
  • The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved Ground Water Act-2020. The act aims to improve ground water level.
  • The World Health Organization announced a new name for the Corona Virus, “COVID-19”. Today more than 42,000 are infected with the virus according to the organization.
  • The “CLIMISHCON” is a Four-day International Conference on changes in Hydrological cycle, Ocean ecosystem, Fisheries and Food security due to Global climate change hosted by Kerala. And the conference is going to be held at the Le Meridian Convention center in Kochi, Kerala from February 11 to February 14, 2020. ‘Climate Change-Effective Adaptation for a Secure Future’ is the Theme for the conference
  • Facebook launched its ‘We Think Digital’ programme, under which the social media giant will provide digital literacy training to 1 lakh women across seven states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madya Pradesh, Assam.
  • Veteran space scientist G Narayanan has been named the chairman of the newly formed commercial entity New Space India Limited. He was working as deputy director at the Liquid Propulsion systems centre,Thiruvananthapuram.
  • The world-famous ski destination Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host a five-day national winter games from March 7 under the Khelo India programme.
  • The Union Cabinet approved the Memorandum of Understanding signed between India and Iceland in the field of fisheries. The countries had signed agreements in September 2019, to develop inland fisheries.
  • K Sivan, chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Shekhar Mande, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), on Friday were bestowed with HK Firodia Memorial awards for their contributions to science.
  • Sivan was presented with the Vijnan Ratna award while Mande received the Vijnan Bhushan award.
