Regional-Level Pollution Response Exercise
- ICG District Headquarters No 7 (Odisha), under the aegis of Coast Guard Region (North East), conducted a Regional Level Pollution Response Exercise (Re-PREX-24) at Paradip from November 12 to 14, 2024.
- The exercise was aimed to enhance preparedness and coordination among various stakeholders in responding to oil spills and other marine pollution incidents.
- The exercise included a series of activities such as professional presentations, discussions and mock drill onboard an ICG ship at sea off Paradip. This elaborate scenario-based exercise provided valuable insight and effective response strategy for addressing oil spill along the sensitive coasts.
Keel Laying of First Fleet Support Ship
- ‘Keel Laying’ ceremony of first of the five Fleet Support Ships (FSS) was held at Hindustan Shipyard, Limited, Visakhapatnam on 14 Nov 24.
- Indian Navy had signed a contract with HSL for acquisition of five Fleet Support Ships in Aug 2023. The ships are scheduled to be delivered to Indian Navy, commencing mid 2027.
- On induction, the Fleet Support Ships will bolster the ‘Blue Water’ capabilities of the Indian Navy through replenishment of Fleet ships at sea. The ships, with more than 40,000 Tons displacement will carry and deliver fuel, water, ammunition.
DRDO Successfully completes Flight Tests of Pinaka
- DRDO has successfully completed the Flight Tests of Guided Pinaka Weapon System as part of Provisional Staff Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) Validation Trials. The flight tests have been conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges.
- Twelve (12) rockets from each production agency from two in-service Pinaka launchers upgraded by the launcher production agencies have been tested.

Joint Electromagnetic Board Meeting 2024
- The annual meeting of the Joint Electromagnetic Board (JEMB), a subcommittee of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC), was held on 13 November 2024 under the chairmanship of Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations).
- The meeting covered multiple agenda items on joint operations and integration in areas such as Electronic Warfare, Signature Management, Emerging Technologies, EMI/EMC, Spectrum Management and Human Resource Management.The event featured the launch of the AI-enabled e-Tarang System, which will enable automated, efficient planning and management of Defence Spectrum, as well as support development of newer technologies in higher frequency bands.
- The annual meeting was conducted with a singular aim, ‘to achieve synergy in joint electronic warfare (EW) operations among the three Services and to establish a roadmap for enhancing capabilities in Spectrum Warfare’.
NFSM & FSS Seminar
- Flight Safety Seminar (FSS) and Annual Naval Flight Safety Meeting (NFSM) for year 2024 were successfully conducted on 12-13 Nov at INS Dega, Visakhapatnam under the aegis of the Headquarters Eastern Naval Command.
- Centering on the theme “Emerging Threats and Challenges – Naval Air Operations and Compliance with Flight Safety,” the seminar focused on contemporary topics, including Advancements in Counter-UAV/ UAS Technologies and Tactics, Cyber Security Risks in Aviation.
Rajnath Singh to Attend ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus Meetings
- Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Laos from November 20-22 for the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (ADMM Plus).
- Rajnath Singh said that India faces a diverse range of security challenges, from traditional border-related threats to unconventional issues such as terrorism, cyberattacks and hybrid warfare.
- The ADMM-Plus is a platform for the ASEAN member states –Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam- and its eight Dialogue Partners -India, US, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand- to strengthen security and defence cooperation.
- India became the dialogue partner of ASEAN in 1992. Furthermore, the inaugural ADMM-Plus was convened in Vietnam’s Hanoi on October 12, 2010.
- Since 2017, the ADMM-Plus Ministers meetings have been held annually to bolster cooperation amongst ASEAN and the Plus countries.
