Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar Reviews Operational Preparedness in Manipur and Engages with Veterans at Ex-Servicemen Rally

Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, recently visited the Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur to assess the operational readiness of military units and engage in strategic discussions with senior commanders aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.

During his tour at the military station, the Corps Commander inaugurated a new state-of-the-art facility that boasts modern IT infrastructure. This advancement is expected to significantly enhance the operational effectiveness and command capabilities of military operations in the area. General Pendharkar took the opportunity to commend the personnel for their professionalism, commitment, and high morale, highlighting their vital role in maintaining security within the state.

In a parallel initiative, the Spear Corps hosted an Ex-Servicemen Rally at the Leisang Football Ground in Churachandpur, aiming to honor and support veterans. The event witnessed a turnout of 860 veterans, alongside 28 Veer Naris (war widows) and 47 war widows, creating a vibrant community atmosphere focused on addressing grievances and enhancing the well-being of former servicemen and their families.

The rally was themed “Veterans: Building the Nation Beyond the Battlefield,” serving as a poignant tribute to gallantry awardees and war heroes. It provided veterans with a platform to voice concerns related to critical issues such as healthcare, pensions, and resettlement, thereby fostering a supportive environment for discussing matters that affect their lives post-service.

Lt Gen Pendharkar expressed gratitude to the veterans for their invaluable service to the nation and emphasized their ongoing significance in nation-building efforts. His engagement with both active duty soldiers and veterans underscores a broader commitment from the Indian Army to prioritize security, welfare, and community development initiatives throughout Manipur, reflecting a dedication to not just military objectives but also to the nurturing of harmonious relationships within the local populace.
