Chimney Trail Health has secured a significant $25-million contract to implement a comprehensive mindset training program for soldiers of the US Marine Corps. This initiative will utilize the company’s flagship solution, “Cognitive Behavioral Training,” which includes a series of seminars focusing on fundamental principles of Cognitive Behavior and Prospect Theories.
A key feature of the training program is the introduction of “Waypoint Kits,” which will be sent directly to soldiers. These kits are designed to foster hands-on activities, allowing troops to extend their learning at a pace that suits them. Over the span of five years, this project aims to not only benefit the Marines but also to extend support to their families.
Facilitated in collaboration with Marine Corps Community Services, the training will provide crucial resources for the wellness and fitness of military personnel. The core objective of this contract is to strengthen the psychological resilience of Marines, which is paramount in preventing mental health issues before they arise. It has become increasingly apparent that mental health challenges, particularly suicide, have surpassed combat-related fatalities by a ratio of more than four to one.
Young recruits entering military service face unique psychological threats, particularly in the digital realm. Alarmingly, approximately 38 percent of service members abstain from seeking mental health care due to the stigma associated with it or concerns regarding their career progression. Through this newly implemented program, Marines will be empowered to take proactive steps to address mental health crises, thereby promoting preventive care as a crucial element of national defense strategy.
In the initial year of the project, Chimney Trail Health plans to distribute around 26,600 Waypoint Kits to initiate improvements in mental well-being among service members. CEO Matt Brown articulated the urgency of this initiative, stating, “Today’s battles aren’t fought just on the battlefield—they start in the mind. They start with our very will to fight and win.” He emphasized that cultivating mental resilience, or “building mental armor,” is just as vital as enhancing physical strength, signifying its importance in ensuring the readiness and welfare of the nation’s military personnel.
