IMF Approves $2.4 Billion Support For Pakistan
- Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved two financing decisions for Pakistan, disbursing approximately $2.4 billion under its economic reform and climate resilience programmes.
- IMF said it had completed the first review of Pakistan’s economic reform program supported by the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement. This enables an immediate disbursement of around $1 billion, taking total disbursements under the arrangement to about $2.1 billion.
- In addition, the IMF Executive Board approved Pakistan’s request for an arrangement under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), providing access of about $1.4 billion.
- The RSF is intended to help the country address vulnerabilities related to climate change and natural disasters. The fund had earlier approved Pakistan’s 37-month EFF on September 25, 2024 for the amount of around US$7 billion. This review had allowed Pakistan to immediately access about $1 billion at the time. With the latest $1 billion extended under EFF, the IMF has disbursed nearly $2.1 billion in loans to Pakistan.
India-Chile Sign Terms Of Reference For CEPA
- India and Chile signed the Terms of Reference (ToR) for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), marking a significant advancement in their bilateral trade relations. The mutually agreed ToR was signed yesterday by Ambassador of Chile in India, Juan Angulo and Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce Vimal Anand.
- Ministry of Commerce in a statement said that both sides reiterated their shared vision for strengthening bilateral relations and look forward to fruitful discussion during the first round scheduled for 26th to 30th of this month in New Delhi.
- The CEPA aims to build upon the existing Preferential Trade Agreement between the two nations. It seeks to encompass a broader range of sectors, including digital services, investment promotion and cooperation, MSME and critical minerals among others for enhancing economic integration and cooperation.
- India and Chile are strategic partners and close allies, sharing warm and cordial relations. Bilateral ties have steadily strengthened over the years with the exchange of high-level visits. A Framework Agreement on Economic Cooperation was signed between the two countries in January, 2005, followed by Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) in March, 2006.
- Since then economic and commercial relations between India and Chile have remained robust and continue to grow.

Ladakh Now Home To 477 Snow Leopards
- A recent landmark study under the Snow Leopard Population Assessment in India (SPAI) program has revealed that Ladakh is home to 477 snow leopards, making it one of the regions with the highest densities of these elusive big cats globally. This revelation marks a significant milestone in wildlife conservation and positions Ladakh as a premier eco-tourism destination, showcasing the resilience of high-altitude biodiversity.
- The study, released in May 2025, is the first scientifically validated estimate of snow leopard numbers in Ladakh. Conducted under the SPAI program, the study is a joint effort by the Ladakh Forest Department, Wildlife Institute of India, Ministry of Environment, and Nature Conservation Foundation.

Delhi To Conduct Five Cloud- Seeding Trials
- Delhi Cabinet has approved a ₹3.21 crore project to conduct five cloud-seeding trials across the National Capital Region (NCR). The initiative, led by the Delhi Environment Department in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, seeks to explore artificial rainmaking as a contingency solution during periods of severe air pollution.

CCRAS Revives Two Key Ayurvedic Manuscripts
- Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, has successfully revived two important Ayurvedic manuscripts—Dravyaratnākara Nighaṇṭu and Dravyanamākara Nighaṇṭu, crucial for the preservation and advancement of India’s traditional medical heritage.
- The manuscripts were unveiled during an event held by the RRAP Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Mumbai.
- About Dravyaratnākara Nighaṇṭu – Authored by Mudgala Paṇḍita in 1480 AD, this previously unpublished lexicon offers in-depth knowledge of drug synonyms, therapeutic actions, and medicinal properties. It was widely referenced in Maharashtra until the 19th century. The critical edition of the text, revived by Dr. Sadanand D.
