EM&E Group Unveils Ferox 6×6 Armored Vehicle at International Military Convention in Madrid

At a recent international military solutions convention in Madrid, Spanish defense contractor EM&E Group showcased its latest innovation, the Ferox 6×6 armored vehicle. This cutting-edge system is characterized by its modular architecture and anti-blast protection, making it ideally suited for high-intensity operations in complex environments.

The Ferox platform is designed to enhance warfighter capabilities in various aspects, including firepower, mobility, situational awareness, and adaptability in both conventional and asymmetric combat scenarios. This versatile approach reflects the increasing demand for advanced military solutions tailored to the evolving battlefield landscape.

To support the production of this new vehicle, EM&E Group has expanded its manufacturing facility in Linares, Jaén, allowing them to increase their tactical vehicle production capacity. CEO Fernando Fernández emphasized the significance of this development, stating that the introduction of the Ferox at the International Defence and Security Exhibition represents a milestone not just for the company, but also for the broader national defense industry. He highlighted that this vehicle signifies the beginning of a new era for EM&E Group in the armored vehicle sector, underscoring the firm’s dedication to enhancing strategic capabilities and achieving technological excellence.

The Ferox is built upon advanced design principles based on the EDGE Group’s Jais 6×6 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Armored Personnel Carrier, enhancing the system’s reliability and performance. This partnership with the state-owned UAE firm enables EM&E to benefit from knowledge transfer and supports the national industrialization of vehicle design and manufacturing in Spain.

The Jais armored vehicle itself measures approximately 7 meters (23 feet) in length and has a gross weight of 27,000 kilograms (59,525 pounds), accommodating up to 11 personnel. It features a powerful 600-horsepower engine capable of achieving a top speed of 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour, with a range of up to 700 kilometers (435 miles). Users have the option to equip the Ferox with a remote-controlled station, complete with electro-optical sensors and the provision to mount a machine gun, enhancing its operational capabilities.

Additionally, EM&E Group’s portfolio includes proven technologies such as the Guardian remote land station, the Sentinel remote naval station, the Aunav unmanned ground vehicle, and the Alkon missile guidance system. The introduction of the Ferox 6×6 not only fortifies the company’s reputation but also contributes to the advancement of Spain’s defense industry at a critical juncture in global defense dynamics.
