Bharat Electronics Secures ₹537 Crore in New Defence Contracts

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a prominent Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has recently secured fresh defence contracts valued at ₹537 crore, reinforcing its status as a vital entity in India’s defence technology landscape. This announcement follows the company’s last significant update on May 16, 2025, as detailed in a regulatory filing.

The contracts encompass a wide range of sophisticated defence systems and equipment, which include communication technologies, advanced composite communication systems tailored for naval platforms, jamming devices, enhanced simulators, software solutions, testing rigs, spare parts, and associated services. This array of agreements is anticipated to significantly enhance BEL’s capacity to provide cutting-edge technologies to the Indian armed forces.

As of April 1, 2025, BEL’s order book was reported to be a substantial ₹71,650 crore, indicating robust revenue prospects. During the fourth quarter of FY25, the company noted an impressive 18.4% increase in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹2,127 crore, while revenues grew by 6.8% year-on-year to ₹9,149.6 crore.

In response to the latest contract announcement, BEL’s share price experienced a positive movement, rising by 1.37% intraday on the NSE, peaking at ₹391.30 before closing at ₹389.90 on the BSE, reflecting a 1.04% increase.

Market analysts continue to show strong confidence in BEL, with 24 out of 28 recommending a ‘buy’ rating on the stock. The average 12-month target price for BEL stands at ₹399.80, suggesting a potential upside of around 2.5% from its current trading levels.

Strategically, BEL plays a crucial role in India’s push for defence indigenisation. The company is currently partnering with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Project Kusha, an indigenous long-range air defence system being developed as a substitute for the Russian S-400. BEL’s contribution to this initiative includes the development of advanced radar and control systems.

The recent order win not only underscores BEL’s operational resilience but also illustrates the increasing confidence in Indian defence enterprises as the country intensifies its efforts towards self-reliance in essential military technologies.
