Israel’s military reported a significant escalation in its operations against Iran, targeting numerous sites in Tehran overnight, including facilities linked to the country’s nuclear weapons program. This development marks the eighth consecutive day of increased hostilities between the two nations.
In an official statement, the Israeli army detailed a comprehensive airstrike operation aimed at multiple military objectives within Tehran, asserting that it successfully struck “dozens of targets.” Among these were facilities associated with missile production and the SPND (Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research) headquarters, which the military claims plays a pivotal role in the research and development of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
The Israeli military emphasized that the SPND headquarters is instrumental in advancing technologies and manufacturing processes that bolster Iran’s military arsenal. The airstrikes involved the deployment of over 60 fighter jets targeting locations responsible for producing missile components and materials essential for missile engine fabrication.
Israel has long contended that Iran is on the cusp of developing a nuclear weapon, prompting its early airstrikes last week, which have initiated a series of violent exchanges in the region.
In response to the escalating tensions, European foreign ministers are convening for discussions with their Iranian counterpart, seeking a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing conflict. Concurrently, U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering potential American involvement in the situation, raising the stakes for diplomatic and military engagements in the region.
