The Indian Naval Academy (INA) has recently concluded a three-day midterm hike and inter-academy training exchange program, which took place from June 23 to 25. This initiative saw the participation of 43 cadets from the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, including three cadets from friendly foreign nations, highlighting an increasing global engagement in India’s defense training efforts.
The event featured Major General Ajay Sud, the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of OTA Chennai, who played a pivotal role in mentoring future officers. Set against the picturesque backdrops of Mount Dilli, the Kavvayi backwaters, and the Arabian Sea, the INA provided cadets with an immersive experience into naval life and its facilities, which included modern swimming pools, equestrian centers, and advanced shooting ranges.
During the program, cadets participated in interactive sessions, group discussions, and field exercises designed to cultivate core military values, enhance leadership skills, and promote a spirit of jointmanship. Structured drills were conducted, focusing on the evolving doctrine of inter-service collaboration, a crucial aspect of India’s defense strategy.
The inclusion of international cadets not only underscores India’s dedication to defense diplomacy but also exemplifies the importance of establishing training partnerships on a global scale. Since its inception in 2009, INA has positioned itself as a pivotal training center for multi-domain officer education, actively contributing to India’s vision of developing a modern and integrated armed force.
This exchange initiative not only broadened the cadets’ understanding of naval operations but also reinforced the necessity for synergy between the Army and Navy.
