Air Marshal S Sivakumar, VSM, has officially taken on the role of Air Officer-in-Charge Administration (AOA) at Air Headquarters in New Delhi, with the appointment becoming effective from July 1, 2025. This key transition in leadership is poised to bolster the Indian Air Force’s administrative and operational capabilities, leveraging Air Marshal Sivakumar’s extensive experience and distinguished background.
Commissioned into the Administration branch of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in June 1990, Air Marshal Sivakumar brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise. He holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from Pondicherry University as well as an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Osmania University, showcasing his commitment to education and professional development.
Throughout his 35-year career, Sivakumar has held numerous pivotal command and staff positions across various branches of the IAF. His diverse experiences include serving as the Senior Air Traffic Control Officer at a forward air base, Chief Administrative Officer at a premier flying station, and as the Air Officer Commanding of an Equipment Depot. His commitment to international service is underscored by his representation of the IAF in the United Nations Mission in Congo, alongside his role as an Air Force Examiner.
At the strategic level, Air Marshal Sivakumar has contributed significantly in appointments such as Command Works Officer and Command Personnel Staff Officer across two operational commands. His prior role as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Air Force Works) and his recent position as Director General (Administration) at Air Headquarters further underscore his comprehensive understanding of the operational intricacies of the air force.
He has been recognized for his exemplary service with the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal, an honor that celebrates distinguished service of a high order. In light of his extensive experience and recognized leadership capabilities, Air Marshal Sivakumar’s new position as Air Officer-in-Charge Administration is anticipated to enhance the Indian Air Force’s overall effectiveness and readiness in facing contemporary challenges.
