Panchshil Soldierathon Honors Indian Armed Forces with Over 4,500 Runners

In a significant celebration of resilience and patriotism, over 4,500 participants gathered at the historic Bombay Sappers Parade Ground for the Panchshil Soldierathon. This highly anticipated event served not only as a tribute to the heroism, courage, and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces but also marked a vibrant step forward in the Fit Bharat Movement.

The Soldierathon was organized by Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, the largest community-led fitness initiative in India, in collaboration with Panchshil Realty. It attracted a diverse group of participants, including soldiers, veterans, civilians, students, and fitness enthusiasts, all of whom shared a common goal: to run with pride and purpose.

The event showcased three distinct categories: a 10 km timed run, a 5 km fun run, and a 3 km walk. The flag-off ceremony at 6:45 AM, led by Governor General V. K. Singh and Southern Army Commander Lt. General Dhiraj Seth, ignited a powerful surge of energy among the participants and set the tone for a memorable day.

What set this run apart was the unique opportunity for participants to run alongside Indian Army soldiers—individuals who embody valor, discipline, and unwavering dedication to their country. This experience fostered a sense of unity and purpose among the runners.

More than just a fitness event, the Soldierathon emphasized a commitment to supporting wounded soldiers, particularly those at the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Kirkee. This institution serves as a haven for soldiers who have faced life-altering injuries while serving their nation. The event effectively raised awareness and showed solidarity for India’s brave warriors, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility.

Underlying this national movement is Major Surendra Poonia, VSM (Ex-Special Forces), alongside Mrs. Shilpa Bhagat. They envision a healthier, more united Bharat, where fitness serves as a tribute to the forces that protect the nation. Major Poonia remarked, “Panchshil Soldierathon wasn’t about clocking kilometers. It was about honoring lives. Every step was a salute and tribute. We are deeply indebted to our Indian Army, Military Seniors, every runner, volunteer, and especially to our partners like Panchshil Realty who made this vision a reality.”

The ethos of the Soldierathon extends beyond the event itself, urging every citizen to embody the ethics, sacrifice, and discipline of the armed forces not only in moments of conflict but in daily life, highlighting that such principles are integral to true nation-building.
