Officer Cadets from the Cadets Training Wing (CTW), Pune, recently spent time with the Indian Army’s Shivneri Brigade as part of their professional military training, getting a closer look at how an operational infantry formation functions in practice.
As part of the visit, the cadets learned about the history of an Infantry Battalion, its day-to-day routine, its organisational setup, and the responsibilities it carries in operations. The interaction was meant to give them a clearer sense of what soldiers and officers must manage while performing their duties.
The cadets also went to the Foreign Training Node, where they were briefed on how joint and foreign military exercises are planned and conducted. The sessions stressed the role of military cooperation, interoperability, and coordination during multinational training engagements.

The visit further helped the future officers understand what is expected of junior military leaders, including maintaining operational readiness, leading troops, and ensuring that assigned missions are carried out effectively.

Such exposure is a routine part of professional military education and serves to connect classroom learning with field experience. In this case, it was intended to build leadership qualities, improve operational awareness, and deepen the cadets’ understanding of the Indian Army’s infantry formations.
