Lieutenant General Prit Pal Singh, General Officer Commanding of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, conducted a thorough inspection of the operational readiness and combat capabilities of the Shahbaaz Division at the Sagar Military Station on Thursday. This visit is part of a broader evaluation effort under the Indian Army’s “Decade of Transformation” initiative, which emphasizes the importance of digitization and enhanced capabilities for multi-domain warfare.
During the review, Lt Gen Singh engaged with troops at various ranks, commending their professionalism and the high state of combat readiness displayed. The inspection included a focus on modern training practices and the integration of cutting-edge technologies, such as drones, which are being utilized to enhance surveillance, targeting, and tactical operations.
The Shahbaaz Division showcased its preparedness through demonstrations of advanced systems and integrated combat formations designed for diverse terrains, including high-altitude and rugged areas. This inspection underscores the Army’s ongoing modernization efforts, especially in light of recent developments along the border with China.
Lt Gen Singh, who brings decades of operational experience from significant roles in the Military Operations Directorate and Southern Command Headquarters, is crucial in steering the Corps to align with current defense requirements.
The Sudarshan Chakra Corps, originally re-established on June 6, 1942, in Persia during World War II, has transformed from focusing on countering German-Ottoman threats to becoming one of India’s primary strike formations. Its modern mission involves rapid mobilization, joint force application, and the integration of advanced technologies, positioning the Corps as a cornerstone of India’s strategic deterrence framework.
Additionally, the visit highlighted national objectives to achieve self-reliance in defense and prepare for future conflicts through improved jointness and inter-service collaboration. This reflects India’s ambitious vision for a technologically advanced military by the year 2047.
