Lt Gen Rathee Reviews Operational Readiness of Bald Eagle Brigade in Rann of Kutch

Lieutenant General AVS Rathee, the General Officer Commanding of the Indian Army’s Konark Corps, recently conducted an operational review of the Bald Eagle Brigade stationed in the Rann of Kutch. This comprehensive inspection took place in the remote creek sector and aimed to assess the Army’s preparedness in one of India’s most strategically sensitive and environmentally challenging areas.

During his visit, Lt Gen Rathee praised the Bald Eagle Brigade, affectionately referred to as the Gallant Warriors. He commended their resilience and combat readiness, emphasizing their effective use of modern surveillance and communication systems designed to operate in the harsh saline landscape of Gujarat’s Kutch district.

The Rann of Kutch holds significant historical importance, particularly concerning its role during the 1965 Operation Desert Hawk and the subsequent boundary tribunal ruling in 1968. This region, part of India’s border with Pakistan, remains a security focal point that necessitates constant vigilance by both the Indian Army and the Border Security Force.

The review underscored the ongoing significance of the Konark Corps, which was established in 1987 to protect India’s southwestern borders. Lt Gen Rathee noted the contributions of his predecessor, Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra, who played a pivotal role in enhancing inter-agency coordination and operational integration, establishing a robust groundwork for future leadership.

This inspection not only highlights the strategic commitment of the Indian Army to maintain high readiness levels in the Rann of Kutch but also reflects its proactive approach in adapting to the evolving security challenges posed along the western frontier.
