Ajit Doval Defends India's Operation Sindoor Amidst Foreign Media Criticism

In a vigorous defense of India’s military operations, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval addressed the audience at the 62nd convocation of IIT Madras, asserting the success and precision of Operation Sindoor carried out earlier this month. Doval emphasized that throughout the four-day conflict with Pakistan, not a single structure in India was damaged, directly challenging skeptics and the international media to substantiate claims of destruction on Indian territory.

Doval highlighted the military’s strategic focus during the operation, stating, “We targeted nine terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan—not along the borders—and we missed none. The entire operation took just 23 minutes.” He described the meticulous planning and execution involved, underpinned by real-time intelligence and significant homegrown technological advancements. “It was precise to the point where we knew who was where,” he noted, underscoring the operation’s effectiveness.

The backdrop of Operation Sindoor dates back to May 7, following a devastating terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. In response, the Indian military undertook strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, reportedly resulting in the death of over 100 terrorists. The military actions led to a limited conflict characterized by missile and drone strikes targeting military facilities in both nations, culminating in a ceasefire agreement on May 10.

Doval particularly criticized foreign media coverage, questioning their reports on alleged damage within India. He challenged them to produce evidence, stating, “I ask you, is there a single photo of even a broken glass pane?” He pointed out that the only images circulating were of notable damage at Pakistani air bases, referencing satellite imagery showing before-and-after comparisons of sites like Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, and Chaklala.

Speaking to the students and faculty, Doval emphasized the importance of advancing India’s indigenous defense capabilities. “We are proud of how much of our indigenous technology was involved in Operation Sindoor,” he stated, reiterating the need for self-reliance in defense technology.

His comments reflect broader strategic and political discussions regarding India’s evolving response to cross-border terrorism, signaling a potentially pivotal shift in the country’s military doctrine. The successful execution of Operation Sindoor has been viewed as a significant moment in the history of India’s defense strategies.
