In a significant development, Mohanlalganj police have apprehended Madan Ram, a former Army deserter and the joint director of HK Infravision Pvt Ltd, in connection with a multi-crore real estate fraud that has impacted over 150 Army and paramilitary personnel, along with numerous civilians.
Madan Ram was arrested in his hometown located in Ballia district. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Kumar explained that the fraudulent activities revolved around bogus plot allotments tied to various projects under HK Infravision, notably the so-called “Kanha Upvan Valley” situated in Lucknow.
Victims fell prey to the scheme through attractive brochures and deceitful promises of prime land investments. However, many later learned that the properties were either non-existent, entangled in disputes, or not accessible. Alarmingly, serving defense personnel were specifically targeted, as their commitments often limited their ability to conduct thorough checks on property transactions.
Investigations into the matter revealed that Madan Ram had deserted the Indian Army approximately 15 years ago. Subsequently, he partnered with co-directors Pramod Upadhyay and Vinod Upadhyay, who purportedly recruited him into the company with enticing offers of financial benefits. Together, the trio utilized forged documents and counterfeit registries to ensnare unsuspecting buyers in their elaborate scheme.
To date, the police have filed 19 First Information Reports (FIRs) related to the case. Authorities have also frozen more than ₹15 lakh across 19 bank accounts linked to Madan Ram, in addition to seizing four luxury vehicles associated with the operation.
Madan Ram is facing multiple legal charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120B (criminal conspiracy). The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement officials anticipating further arrests as they delve deeper into this extensive scam network.
