Students from various schools across the Delhi-NCR region celebrated an early Raksha Bandhan at the Air Force Station in New Delhi, marking the occasion with the tying of rakhis to Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel. This gesture served as an expression of respect and gratitude towards the members of the IAF.
The event featured Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, the newly appointed Chief of the Air Staff, who took on this role on September 30, 2024. During his interaction with the students, he highlighted the significance of bridging the gap between the military and the younger generation. He emphasized the importance of fostering a spirit of patriotism and resilience among youth, stating that such initiatives can inspire a sense of duty towards the nation.
Raksha Bandhan, traditionally a celebration of sibling bonds, has transformed in contemporary times to honor those who protect the nation. The students involved in the celebration took the opportunity to offer sweets to the air warriors, symbolizing the appreciation for their role as guardians of India’s skies.
This initiative reflects the Indian Air Force’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, aimed at strengthening ties with the public they serve. The ceremony concluded with a group photograph that not only captured the lively spirit of the festivities but also signified the reinforced connection between the armed forces and the community.
