Major General MPS Gill, VSM, the General Officer Commanding of the Uttarakhand Sub Area, recently visited the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun to oversee the training programs and ongoing infrastructure development at the esteemed institution.

An alumnus of both RIMC and the National Defence Academy, as well as the Indian Military Academy, Maj Gen Gill began his illustrious career after being commissioned into the 18 Mechanised Infantry in 1989. With a distinguished service record spanning 36 years, he has notably commanded an armoured brigade on the western front, underscoring his pivotal role in the context of the India-Pakistan security dynamics.

During his visit, Maj Gen Gill engaged with the cadets, emphasizing the importance of integrity, ethical behavior, and the development of physical and mental resilience during their transformative five-year journey at RIMC. He reiterated the institution’s outstanding track record in preparing students for the National Defence Academy, citing a remarkable success rate of nearly 90% as validated by data from the Ministry of Defence.

The General Officer also took the opportunity to commend Colonel Rahul Agarwal, the Officer Commanding of RIMC, along with the faculty for their unwavering commitment to mentoring and shaping the future leaders of the Armed Forces. An award ceremony marked the occasion, celebrating the college’s strong performance in the recent UPSC examinations. Recent data from RIMC highlighted a 15% increase in top-tier placements compared to the previous year, reflecting the institution’s dedication to academic excellence alongside its military training.
