NSG Commences First Ever Crisis Management Course for Sri Lankan Police Officers

In a significant step towards enhancing regional security cooperation, the National Security Guard (NSG) Training Centre in Manesar has launched its inaugural Crisis Management Course, tailored specifically for 30 officers from the Sri Lankan Police. This specialized training initiative, part of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Duty to Share program, will take place from September 22 to October 4, 2025.

The two-week course is meticulously designed to bolster the operational readiness of Sri Lankan law enforcement personnel in navigating complex security challenges. Participants will engage in intensive training modules that encompass critical areas such as counter-terrorism operations, handling Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), crisis planning, reflex firing, and unarmed combat techniques. The curriculum aims to equip the officers with practical skills and tactical insights, enabling them to respond swiftly and efficiently in high-pressure situations.

To ensure that the training is not only theoretical but also practical, senior NSG instructors will facilitate live demonstrations, field exercises, and simulated crisis scenarios. This approach is intended to make the training realistic and outcome-oriented, focusing on enhancing technical proficiency as well as developing essential leadership, decision-making, and coordination skills crucial for effective crisis management at both tactical and strategic levels.

This initiative is a testament to India’s dedication to regional security cooperation and its readiness to share expertise with allied nations. By providing specialized training to the Sri Lankan Police, India aims to strengthen interoperability and foster mutual trust between the two countries.

Furthermore, the Crisis Management Course underscores the NSG’s status as a premier counter-terrorism force, boasting extensive experience in handling high-stakes operations. The training is expected to significantly enhance Sri Lanka’s capability to counter emerging security threats, thereby strengthening bilateral ties and collaborative efforts between the two neighbors.
