General Upendra Dwivedi Giving Award to Brig Kudip Singh Gulia

During a recent Retiring Officers Seminar in New Delhi, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi awarded the Veteran Achievers Award to three exceptional veterans, acknowledging their remarkable contributions beyond military service.

This prestigious award highlights the ongoing impact of veterans who engage in various social, educational, and community initiatives, exemplifying a spirit of selfless service that remains integral to their lives post-retirement.

Among the honorees, Brigadier Kuldip Singh Gulia (Retd) stood out for his diverse accomplishments. A passionate trekker, scholar, and author, he made significant contributions after his military career by managing educational institutions in Haryana, authoring three books, and editing two encyclopedias. Gulia has also undertaken rigorous trekking expeditions in the Himalayas and Aravallis, including a poignant 114-km hike to commemorate Infantry Day 2024, all aimed at honouring the nation and reinforcing the soldiering ethos.

Colonel Avdhesh Kumar (Retd), known for his advocacy of physical fitness and well-being, was recognized for his exceptional work in promoting health among soldiers. As a Certified Master Instructor in Chi-Running/Walking, he has led 65 lectures and 85 workshops, reaching over 13,200 participants across various elite training institutions. His efforts have played a crucial role in advancing fitness and injury prevention, significantly benefiting both soldiers and their families.

Subedar & Honorary Captain Ravinder Singh Yadav (Retd) was honored for his transformative community initiative in Kyampur Chhavni, located in the Gazipur District. By proposing and partially funding the construction of a bridge over the Maghai River, Yadav has provided safe access to crucial services such as schools and healthcare for approximately 50 villages, impacting the lives of over 70,000 individuals. His dedication serves as a testament to his enduring commitment to public service.

The acknowledgment of these distinguished veterans not only celebrates their individual achievements but also underscores the Indian Army’s profound respect for its retired personnel. Their ongoing efforts continue to inspire society and strengthen the vital relationship between the Army and the civilian population.
