Surgeon Rear Admiral Ajit Gopinath has officially assumed his new role as the Additional Director General Medical Services (Navy). His appointment follows a notable tenure as the Command Medical Officer of the Eastern Naval Command, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing medical services.
With a robust career in medical administration, Rear Admiral Gopinath has held several significant positions within the Armed Forces Medical Services. His experience includes serving as the Staff Officer (Medical) at the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), the Director of Armed Forces Medical Services (Central Records Division) at the Office of Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), and the Joint Director of Medical Services (Personnel). Additionally, he has occupied the role of Commodore (Medical Services – Health Services) at Naval Headquarters.
An alumnus of prestigious institutions such as the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai, and the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad, Rear Admiral Gopinath brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position. He has also commanded two prominent naval hospitals, INHS Patanjali and INHS Sanjivani, showcasing his capability in overseeing healthcare facilities.
With his extensive background in medical services and health administration, Surgeon Rear Admiral Gopinath is anticipated to play a crucial role in enhancing healthcare support for the Indian Navy.
