Lieutenant General Virendra Vats has officially stepped into his role as the 35th Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), succeeding Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh. Lt Gen Vats, who was commissioned into the 19 KUMAON Regiment on December 17, 1988, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. As an distinguished alumnus of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, he has undergone rigorous training that has equipped him with the skills necessary to lead effectively.
Throughout his career, Lt Gen Vats has attended several prestigious military educational institutions, including the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. His robust academic background, coupled with extensive operational and leadership experience, positions him well to drive forward the NCC’s objectives.
