Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney MCEME Commandant Launches ‘Dronalaya’ and ‘Yantralaya’ in Secunderabad

On October 15, 2025, the 83rd EME Corps Day was commemorated with a series of solemn and prestigious events honoring the contributions and sacrifices of personnel within the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME). The observance commenced with a poignant wreath-laying ceremony at the EME War Memorial. Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, VSM, the Commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME, led the tribute to the Bravehearts and technicians who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Following the respectful observance, Lt Gen Varshney addressed the assembled ranks of MCEME during a Sainik Sammelan. His address emphasized the unwavering professionalism, dedication, and technical excellence exhibited by both EME personnel and civilian staff. He acknowledged the Corps’ crucial role in maintaining the operational readiness of the Indian Army’s extensive array of equipment. In particular, Lt Gen Varshney highlighted the Corps’ contributions during Operation Sindoor, which exemplified their resilience and innovative spirit in challenging operational circumstances.

The celebrations also included the recognition of outstanding achievers within the Corps, where several personnel were felicitated for their exemplary performance. Various faculties received trophies and championship banners as part of an effort to acknowledge and promote excellence.

In a significant milestone for the EME, Lt Gen Varshney inaugurated two state-of-the-art training facilities at the Faculty of Electronics. Named ‘Dronalaya’ and ‘Yantralaya’, these centers are dedicated to advancing Drone Technologies and Unmanned Systems and Robotics, respectively. The establishment of these advanced training facilities marks a pivotal enhancement in the Indian Army’s capability to leverage emerging technologies. This initiative will significantly strengthen the training infrastructure under the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) and improve the technical proficiency of EME technicians, ensuring mission readiness in the face of contemporary challenges.
