Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha has officially taken over as the Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area (FOMA), succeeding Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi in a notable shift in leadership within the Indian Navy’s western maritime command. This transition occurs amid the Indian Navy’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and maritime security.
With an impressive career spanning over three decades, Rear Admiral Jha is a dedicated specialist in Navigation and Direction. His extensive service record includes a variety of operational, staff, and diplomatic roles, reflecting his multifaceted experience and expertise in naval operations. Before this new appointment, he served as the Executive Officer aboard the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, one of the Navy’s most formidable assets. He has also commanded several frontline warships, including INS Nishank, INS Kora, and INS Sahyadri, further solidifying his reputation as a capable leader in naval engagements.
Prior to his command of FOMA, Rear Admiral Jha was the Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at the Eastern Naval Command, where he honed his skills in strategic planning and operational execution.
