Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh has officially taken over as the Chief of Personnel (COP) at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi. His extensive experience and accomplishments mark a significant addition to this vital position within the Indian Navy.
Commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1990, Vice Admiral Singh has dedicated over three decades to service, establishing himself as an expert in Gunnery and Missiles. Throughout his career, he has commanded several frontline warships, including the Missile Vessel INS Vidyut, the Missile Corvette INS Khukri, and the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Kochi. Each of these roles has further cemented his reputation as an effective leader in various operational settings.
The Vice Admiral has also held numerous key operational and staff roles, which have contributed to his extensive knowledge and understanding of naval operations. His portfolio includes positions such as Assistant Chief of Personnel for Human Resource Development, Controller of Personnel Services at Naval Headquarters, and Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Fleet, showcasing his versatility and strategic acumen. Additionally, he served as the Commandant of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, where he played a crucial role in shaping future naval leaders.
Vice Admiral Singh has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the Navy, receiving both the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Nao Sena Medal (NM) in acknowledgment of his distinguished service.
