Recent intelligence reports have indicated that terror groups operating out of Pakistan, specifically Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), are preparing for a new series of coordinated attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir region. This development follows six months after India’s Operation Sindoor, which was aimed at mitigating terrorism in the area.

The intelligence findings, acquired by NDTV, reveal a marked increase in infiltration efforts from these groups since September. Both LeT and JeM units have reportedly breached the Indian territory through routes along the Line of Control (LoC), with suspected support from the Pakistan Special Services Group (SSG) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Among the operational highlights, sources disclosed that a specific LeT unit, reportedly commanded by an operative named Shamsher, has utilized drones for aerial reconnaissance. This activity aims to pinpoint vulnerable gaps along the LoC, heightening concerns about the potential for fidayeen-style attacks or the dropping of weapon caches in the near future.

Furthermore, the dossier emphasizes a concerning redeployment of Pakistan’s Border Action Teams (BATs) in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). These teams, which consist of former SSG soldiers and terrorists, are poised for possible cross-border operations directed at Indian positions.

In a chilling development, it has been reported that high-level meetings in PoK during October brought together significant figures from various militant factions, including Jamaat-e-Islami and Hizbul Mujahideen, along with ISI operatives. These discussions appear to have focused on reviving dormant militant cells, providing financial support to former commanders, and planning retribution for the setbacks experienced during Operation Sindoor.

To complicate matters, LeT operatives are allegedly re-establishing their human intelligence network within the Kashmir Valley. This includes mapping local sympathizers and rekindling narco-terror and arms smuggling routes that could finance future operations.

In response to these developments, officials in New Delhi have described the intelligence as a “critical warning.” As a precaution, both the Indian Army and intelligence agencies are reportedly on heightened alert across all sectors of the Northern Command.

This emerging threat arises concurrently with India’s ongoing Tri-service Exercise Trishul along the western borders in Gujarat and Rajasthan. As winter approaches—a season typically associated with a decline in infiltration activities—analysts caution that Pakistan’s renewed offensive could herald what they term a “long winter of terror” in Jammu and Kashmir.
