Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of the Spear Corps, recently conducted a review at the Military Hospital in Dinjan, focusing on Exercise Surge Response—a comprehensive medical preparedness and disaster relief drill. This initiative aims to enhance the capacity of military healthcare systems to respond effectively in times of crisis.
During the visit, Lt Gen Pendharkar evaluated the hospital’s emergency response protocols, casualty management systems, and various coordination drills that were specifically designed to simulate real-time crisis scenarios. His assessment underscored the importance of preparedness in managing potential emergencies effectively.
In his remarks, the Army Commander commended the professionalism, commitment, and technical proficiency demonstrated by the medical teams involved in the exercise. He highlighted the critical role played by military healthcare personnel in ensuring swift and efficient responses during humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters.
Additionally, Lt Gen Pendharkar engaged with National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets who participated in several relief and evacuation exercises, noting their enthusiasm and discipline. He extolled their readiness to contribute to society, underscoring the significance of youth involvement in bolstering national resilience and emergency preparedness efforts.
The exercise served to reinforce the Indian Army’s dedication to enhancing civil-military cooperation, improving medical readiness, and cultivating a proactive approach to humanitarian assistance in the region.
