In a notable advancement for India’s indigenous defence capabilities, Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd has secured two contracts from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) totaling ₹35.68 crore. These contracts are specifically for the supply of Portable Counter-Drone Systems, which are engineered to detect, identify, and neutralise hostile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Set to be completed by May 2026, these contracts underscore the increasing importance of Paras Defence in India’s counter-drone sector. The systems provided will bolster the nation’s ability to tackle the rising menace of rogue drones, which have been increasingly employed for purposes such as surveillance, smuggling, and cross-border assaults. The modular design of the counter-drone systems incorporates cutting-edge technologies for detection, tracking, classification, and neutralisation, thereby safeguarding both military and civilian airspace.
In addition to the primary contracts, Paras Defence’s subsidiary, Paras Anti-Drone Technologies Pvt. Ltd., has also received a separate order worth ₹3.95 crore from the MoD. This second contract focuses on the provision of Radio Frequency (RF) jammers capable of detecting and disrupting drone operations, also with a completion deadline set for May 2026.
Ashutosh Baheti, CEO of Paras Anti-Drone Technologies, highlighted the significance of these repeat orders received within a mere two-month interval, indicating the government’s sustained confidence in the company’s technological capabilities. Baheti emphasized that these projects signify the firm’s commitment to elevating India’s counter-drone preparedness and achieving technological self-reliance in the defence landscape.
These developments occur amidst India’s concerted efforts to develop its anti-drone frameworks under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, which promotes self-sufficient manufacturing and innovation. The increasing reliance on domestic firms like Paras Defence showcases a strategic pivot towards fostering indigenous capabilities and reducing dependency on foreign assets.
As global risks associated with UAVs continue to escalate, Paras Defence’s growing portfolio positions it as a vital player in enhancing India’s national security, reinforcing the country’s aim to maintain a competitive edge in cutting-edge aerial warfare technologies.
