The Director General of the National Cadet Corps (DG NCC), Lt Gen Virendra Vats, recently visited the Maharashtra Directorate on December 10 and 11, 2025. His arrival was marked by a formal Tri-Services Guard of Honour, where he commended cadets for their impressive turnout, discipline, and drill standards.
During his visit, Lt Gen Vats conducted a comprehensive review of several key initiatives currently being undertaken at the Directorate. Among these initiatives is the expansion of NCC units, aimed at broadening the organization’s reach and impact. The increase in the number of girl cadets has also been a focal point, reflecting a strong commitment to gender inclusivity within the NCC framework. Additionally, ongoing infrastructure upgrades are set to enhance training facilities, ensuring that cadets receive the best possible support in their development.
A notable advancement discussed was the integration of drone training into the cadet curriculum, a move aimed at modernizing training methods and equipping future leaders with cutting-edge skills. The proposal for establishing a Remount & Veterinary Corps (RVC) Regional Pre-Training Organization (RPTO) in Nagpur was also highlighted, demonstrating the Directorate’s forward-thinking approach in preparing cadets for diverse roles within the armed services.
In a demonstration of the cadets’ spirit and talent, Lt Gen Vats witnessed an impressive cultural performance that showcased the rich diversity and ethos of the NCC. His interactions with the cadets were motivational, encouraging them to pursue excellence through discipline, dedication, and a commitment to national service.
The DG’s itinerary included a call on Lt Gen D. S. Kushwah, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding of HQ MG & G Area. This meeting fostered discussions aimed at strengthening the collaborative relationship between the Army and NCC. Both leaders underscored their shared vision of empowering youth and enhancing their contributions towards the ambitious goal of a developed India by 2047, often referred to as Viksit Bharat @2047. The discussions reaffirmed the commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders within the framework of national service and empowerment.
