Lieutenant General Rajiv Kumar Sahni, the Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DG EME) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), recently conducted a two-day visit to the Brahmastra Corps, part of the Eastern Command. This visit took place from December 19 to 20, 2025, and aimed to assess the operational readiness and technical capabilities of the Corps.
Throughout his visit, Lt Gen Sahni engaged with both officers and troops, expressing admiration for their exemplary professionalism and technical skills. He highlighted the significance of their mission-ready maintenance support, emphasizing that such standards are essential for sustaining operational effectiveness in the face of challenging circumstances.
In addition to interacting with personnel, the DG EME thoroughly reviewed several key technical and innovation initiatives currently underway. Notably, he praised the Drone Excellence Centre, recognizing its contributions to fostering indigenous solutions and promoting self-reliance through innovation-driven development. This aligns with the Indian Army’s broader goals of modernization and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative aimed at making India self-sufficient in defense capabilities.
The visit served to reinforce the Indian Army’s commitment to enhancing technical support systems, maintaining cutting-edge maintenance capabilities, and advancing indigenisation efforts. These priorities are crucial for addressing future operational challenges in the Eastern theatre, underscoring the Army’s preparedness and adaptability in a rapidly evolving security environment.
