A trainee aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed into a pond near KP College in Prayagraj, causing a brief wave of panic among local residents. Fortunately, both pilots onboard were able to eject safely and were rescued without sustaining serious injuries, as confirmed by officials.
The accident occurred during a routine training sortie when the aircraft went down behind the college premises. Local residents promptly alerted the police and district administration, which led to the rapid deployment of fire brigade units and rescue teams to the crash site.
In response to the emergency, authorities swiftly cordoned off the area to facilitate operations and ensure the safety of the public. Security around the pond and adjacent neighborhoods was heightened, allowing rescue personnel to assess the situation and secure the wreckage effectively.
Remarkably, there were no reports of civilian casualties or damage to nearby buildings, mitigating what could have been a more serious incident. In light of the crash, the Indian Air Force has initiated a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the precise cause of the accident.
Officials emphasized that safety protocols were adhered to during the training exercise, and the prompt response from emergency services played a crucial role in safeguarding both the pilots and local residents.
