Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, the Army Commander of Northern Command, convened a critical Core Group Security Review meeting in Srinagar, which involved senior officials from various security institutions, including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and other relevant agencies. This strategic gathering aimed to solidify the security framework in the region, illustrating a concerted effort to address pressing safety concerns.
The meeting signifies the onset of a joint operational review, set to begin from January 22, 2026. This initiative is designed to strengthen the interconnectedness of security operations, with a particular emphasis on enhancing the sharing of intelligence among different agencies. Participants discussed strategies to improve the effectiveness of joint operations and boost coordination via Joint Control Centres, which are envisioned as hubs for collaboration among security forces.
During the discussions, Lt Gen Sharma highlighted the necessity of seamless cooperation among all stakeholders involved in regional security. He stressed that the operational effectiveness of security measures greatly depends on the unity and coordinated efforts of different agencies working together. The review also reflected Northern Command’s ongoing commitment to integrated planning and joint execution, aiming for real-time coordination to uphold security and stability across the area.
