The Delhi Police has secured the title of Best Marching Contingent at the Republic Day Parade 2026, held at Kartavya Path on January 26. This distinction, awarded by the Ministry of Defence, recognizes the exemplary discipline, synchronization, and presentation by the Delhi Police during the prestigious event.
The contingent, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Anant Dhanraj Singh, IPS, included one ACP, three inspectors, 44 head constables, and 100 constables, all meticulously selected for their height, all exceeding six feet. Dressed in striking red safa uniforms, the contingent’s immaculate precision and poise significantly enhanced the parade’s overall atmosphere, showcasing both national unity and military excellence. This recent accolade marks the Delhi Police’s 18th award in this category, further solidifying their reputation with consecutive wins in 2024 and 2025, reflecting their unwavering commitment to ceremonial standards.
In the parallel category for the three Armed Services, the Indian Navy was recognized as the best. The Republic Day Parade celebrated India’s 77th anniversary and marked the 150th anniversary of the iconic “Vande Mataram.” It featured a variety of tableaux that illustrated themes of self-reliance and cultural heritage. Among the states and union territories, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kerala claimed the top three spots for their impressive tableaux, while the Ministry of Culture received accolades for its participation representing central ministries.
In a survey conducted via the MyGov portal, public opinion differed slightly, with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) being voted as the favorite among CAPFs and auxiliary forces. However, the judges’ decision emphasized the Delhi Police’s superior execution, reinforcing its vital role in not only maintaining law and order but also in embodying institutional pride on the national stage.
