Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, the General Officer Commanding of Spear Corps, recently conducted an important visit to the Masimpur Military Station in Silchar, Assam. On July 19, 1988, 2/Lt Rajeev Sandhu lost his life while valiantly engaging the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) during Operation Pawan, a part of the Indian Army’s efforts under the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka.
The bust serves as a lasting reminder of the legacy left by the brave officer and honors the valor and sacrifices made by Indian soldiers throughout the country’s military history. The ceremony reflected on the challenges faced by these servicemen and women, emphasizing their dedication to protecting national interests even in the most trying environments.
