Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai, Director General of Medical Services for the Navy, recently undertook a three-day visit to the Gujarat Naval Area, spanning from March 23 to 25. This important visit was centered around assessing the medical infrastructure and healthcare delivery systems at key naval establishments within the region.
During her tour, Vice Admiral Sahai inspected several medical facilities, including those at INS Sardar Patel, the Naval Air Enclave, and Indian Coast Guard units located in Porbandar. She also evaluated the medical resources available at INS Dwarka in Okha. Accompanying her was Surgeon Rear Admiral K M Adhikari, the Chief Medical Officer for the Western Command.
In addition to her inspections, Vice Admiral Sahai engaged in discussions with Rear Admiral Sritanu Guru, the Flag Officer for the Gujarat Naval Area, to review ongoing medical initiatives and the operational readiness of healthcare services. This interaction highlighted the collaborative efforts to enhance medical preparedness within the Indian Navy.
A significant moment of the visit was marked by the inauguration of a new physiotherapy clinic at INS Sardar Patel. This facility is designed to bolster medical support infrastructure and improve care for naval personnel and their dependents, reflecting the Indian Navy’s ongoing commitment to healthcare excellence.
