Lieutenant General Harbinder Singh Vandra, the General Officer Commanding of the Madhya Bharat Area, recently visited Headquarters Purva Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh Sub Area in Prayagraj to assess the region’s operational preparedness and ongoing initiatives. This visit highlights the Indian Army’s proactive approach to maintaining effective military operations and supporting its veteran community.
During his time at the headquarters, Lt Gen Vandra received extensive briefings on several key developments. These included assessments of operational readiness, preparations for the upcoming North Tech Symposium (NTS), and various veteran outreach programs alongside welfare initiatives. Additionally, the discussions covered plans for future infrastructure development projects, emphasizing the Army’s commitment to enhancing its logistic capabilities.
In his review, Lt Gen Vandra conducted a thorough assessment of operational preparedness at critical facilities, including the Ordnance Depot Prayagraj and the 508 Army Base Workshop Cheoki. He stressed the vital role that logistics and maintenance support play in sustaining military operations, underscoring the importance of these facilities in ensuring that troops are always ready for deployment.
As part of his oversight duties, the GOC also inspected the ECHS Polyclinic and the Defence Pension Contact Centre (DPCC). He took the opportunity to interact with Kanwaljeet Singh, the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension), discussing services related to pension management and the mechanisms in place for addressing grievances. This engagement reflects the Army’s commitment to ensuring that service members and their families receive timely and effective support.
Furthermore, Lt Gen Vandra engaged with veterans throughout the visit, recognizing their ongoing contributions to the nation. He reiterated the Indian Army’s dedication to providing meaningful support for veterans, Veer Naris, and their dependents through enhanced welfare and outreach measures.
