The closing ceremony of Operation Netra 1.0, a significant eye-care initiative, saw notable participation from Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena. This extensive program, organized by the Fire and Fury Corps in partnership with the Army Hospital (R&R), the Health Department, and SNM Hospital, Leh, has made substantial strides in improving eye health in the region.
During the operation, a remarkable milestone was reached with over 200 successful cataract surgeries performed. The initiative deployed medical camps across remote areas including Tangtse, Nyoma, Chushul, Nubra, and Kargil, setting a record for eye surgeries conducted at the highest altitude in India.
Operation Netra 1.0 was designed to extend specialized healthcare services to difficult terrains, specifically targeting underserved populations in the challenging landscapes of Ladakh. Its main goal was to enhance the quality of life for residents by providing advanced medical care that is often difficult to access in remote locations.
This ambitious program was made possible through a collaborative effort among several key stakeholders, including the Indian Army, Army Hospital (R&R), the Ladakh Health Department, and SNM Hospital, Leh. Each entity played a vital role in ensuring the initiative’s success, effectively bringing much-needed medical services to areas that typically face challenges accessing healthcare.
During the ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude toward the medical teams involved in the operation. He praised the dedication and hard work of doctors, paramedical staff, and Indian Army personnel, acknowledging their commitment to delivering impactful healthcare services to the local community.
