The Andaman and Nicobar Police held a ceremonial farewell parade at the Police Lines Parade Ground to honor Shri H.S. Dhaliwal, IPS, the outgoing Director General of Police, ahead of his transfer to Delhi. This event marked the end of over 21 months of dedicated service by Shri Dhaliwal in the Islands, a period characterized by significant advancements in policing.
The parade served as an expression of pride, honor, and deep respect for Shri Dhaliwal’s leadership. Senior officers and personnel from the A&N Police attended the ceremony, reflecting on his contributions and commitment to improving law enforcement within the Union Territory.
During his tenure, Shri Dhaliwal initiated several pivotal programs aimed at enhancing crime control and anti-narcotics operations while also modernizing police infrastructure. He prioritized personnel welfare and encouraged a community-oriented approach to policing. This focus on transparent and people-friendly practices improved operational efficiency and responsiveness within the force.
A standout feature of his leadership was the introduction of significant welfare measures for police personnel. Such initiatives included promotional upgradations after 15 and 25 years of service, a reduction in Look-Out Post guard tenure, and enhancements to welfare infrastructure for officers stationed across the Islands.
Additionally, under his guidance, the A&N Police became the first to install solar power systems at all Look-Out Posts. This initiative aimed to improve the working conditions for officers in remote areas, acknowledging the unique geographical challenges and strategic significance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Shri Dhaliwal’s emphasis on anti-narcotics enforcement further underscored his commitment to public safety. He led the police force in intensifying efforts to ensure the security of residents through a balanced approach that coupled strict enforcement with community engagement. This dual strategy reinforced the police’s role as both enforcers of law and partners in community safety.
The A&N Police expressed deep gratitude to Shri H.S. Dhaliwal for his inspiring leadership and steadfast commitment to the welfare of their personnel and the overall safety of the Islands. On his departure, the police fraternity extended their best wishes for his future endeavors, hoping for his continued success and well-being.
