An esteemed alumnus of Madurai Medical College, Rear Admiral Ilankumaran was commissioned into the Indian Navy on June 30, 1993. Over his nearly three-decade-long career, he has garnered a reputation for excellence and leadership, having commanded INHS Patanjali while also holding various key staff positions at both the Western Naval Command and Naval Headquarters.
His specialization in Community Medicine equips him with a robust background in public health, preventive medicine, and medical administration, areas crucial for enhancing the operational health frameworks within the Navy. Before his appointment as CMO, he served as the Executive Officer of INHS Asvini in Mumbai, which further attests to his extensive experience.
