Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, VSM, who serves as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Maintenance Command for the Indian Air Force, recently conducted an insightful visit to the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) located in Secunderabad. The visit took place on May 26, 2026, and was aimed at exploring the institution’s vital contributions to the Indian Armed Forces.
During the engagement, Air Marshal Umesh was presented with a comprehensive briefing that underscored MCEME’s critical role in promoting Tri-Services integration. The institution focuses on joint technical training, innovation, and capability development, which are all aligned with the Indian Army’s ambitious “Decade of Transformation” vision.
The briefing elaborated on MCEME’s efforts in enhancing jointness among the three Armed Services by implementing integrated training programs. These programs address a variety of niche and emerging technology fields. Key areas of emphasis included Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), drone technology, additive manufacturing, electronic warfare, modern communication technologies, and advanced weapon and aviation systems.
In addition to the briefing, Air Marshal Umesh toured various faculties within MCEME. He was updated on modern training methodologies and ongoing research and development initiatives that focus on indigenisation.
