Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh and Officers

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh recently completed a focused three-day visit to the Leh Sector between June 5 and 7, 2026. The trip aimed to evaluate operational preparedness, assess the development of border infrastructure, and ensure logistical sustainability along India’s northern frontiers.

During his visit, Singh engaged in in-depth discussions with senior military commanders at the XIV Corps headquarters, where they reviewed the current security landscape and operational readiness. A key topic of discussion was the ongoing initiatives designed to strengthen infrastructure in strategically vital border areas.

Singh was briefed on several measures intended to enhance troop mobility, logistical support, and the sustainability of military operations in the unforgiving high-altitude environment of Eastern Ladakh. These measures are critical to ensuring that the troops can operate effectively in one of the most challenging terrains in the world.

As part of his tour, the Defence Secretary visited key forward locations in Eastern Ladakh, including Base Camp and the Northern Glacier region. Here, he had the opportunity to interact directly with the soldiers stationed in these demanding operational conditions. During these engagements, he expressed admiration for their unwavering dedication, courage, and professionalism in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly given the extreme weather, difficult terrain, and prolonged deployments they face.

The Defence Secretary also took the time to review the progress of crucial border infrastructure projects, which are essential for enhancing connectivity, operational flexibility, and military preparedness in this sensitive sector. Officials highlighted that this visit enabled a thorough assessment of the logistical arrangements and infrastructure initiatives that support troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Acknowledging the commitment and resilience of the personnel in the region, Rajesh Kumar Singh emphasized their critical role in maintaining a high level of operational readiness and ensuring national security, even in the face of the most formidable challenges.

This visit underscores the government’s ongoing emphasis on bolstering defense preparedness, improving border infrastructure, and providing robust support to frontline troops stationed in strategically significant areas of the country.
