A drone attack attributed to Ukrainian forces has resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to at least three others in southern Russia, according to regional authorities. The incident occurred in the Temryuk district, located on the Sea of Azov, near the Kerch Strait, which serves as a boundary between mainland Russia and the Crimean peninsula, currently under Russian control since 2014.
Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported on Telegram that the strike caused significant damage to port installations and ignited a fire at a maritime terminal. He confirmed that emergency responses were swift, with approximately 96 personnel engaged in firefighting efforts following the incident.
In response to heightened military activity, the Russian military claimed to have intercepted a total of 177 Ukrainian drones overnight, underscoring the intensified aerial conflict between the two nations.
In recent months, Ukraine has escalated its offensive operations within Russian territory, describing these actions as necessary retaliation for Moscow’s extensive bombardments throughout the ongoing conflict, which has persisted for over four years. The Ukrainian government maintains that its military primarily targets military facilities and energy infrastructure to undermine the Kremlin’s financial resources tied to fossil fuel income.
