Embraer Signs Logistics Support Agreement with Brazilian Air Force for KC-390 Aircraft

Aerospace manufacturer Embraer has entered into a long-term logistics support agreement with the Brazilian Air Force, focusing on the KC-390 Millennium transport aircraft fleet. This contract is pivotal in ensuring lifecycle sustainment services for the KC-390 aircraft that are currently operational, as well as for those slated for future delivery.

The arrangement delineates a comprehensive set of services, which includes the repair and overhaul of components, supply of spare parts, engineering support, and the provision of technical documentation. Additionally, contingency support services are part of this wide-ranging agreement. The overarching aim is to enhance fleet readiness, boost aircraft availability, and minimize downtime, thus ensuring the smooth operation of the KC-390 fleet.

Lieutenant-Brigadier Valter Malta, the General Support Commander of the Brazilian Air Force, emphasized the initiative’s significance, stating that it “contributes to enhancing operational efficiency across the Brazilian Air Force, while strengthening reliability and ensuring continuity for a program that has become a global benchmark in military aviation.”

The KC-390 Millennium is a versatile twin-engine aircraft engineered to perform a variety of missions, including cargo and troop transport, airdrop operations, and medical evacuations. It is designed to handle critical operations such as search and rescue, aerial firefighting, and humanitarian assistance, in addition to operating as a tanker or a receiver during air-to-air refueling missions.

This aircraft is capable of transporting up to 26 tons of payload and can reach speeds of 470 knots (approximately 870 kilometers or 540 miles per hour), making it suitable for both tactical and strategic airlift missions. The Brazilian Air Force not only launched the KC-390 program but also remains its largest operator.

In recent years, the KC-390 has garnered attention from various international operators, with air forces from Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia, and Lithuania opting to incorporate the platform into their fleets.
