Diwali brought a moment of celebration to an Indian Air Force forward base in the western sector on November 7, 2026, where Air Warriors marked the festival while serving in high-altitude conditions.
Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb, the Indian Air Force’s Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM), visited the base and joined personnel for the celebrations. His presence offered an occasion for service members stationed away from their families to share the festival together.
Celebrations in a demanding environment
Personnel at the location face high-altitude terrain, harsh weather and the continuing requirement to maintain operational readiness. The Air Warriors celebrated Diwali with enthusiasm despite these conditions, with the gathering reflecting camaraderie among those serving at the base.

Forward air bases in the western sector contribute to India’s air defence preparedness and military operations. Service members deployed there work in environments that call for technical expertise, discipline and ongoing operational vigilance.
Maintenance leadership and personnel morale
As Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb oversees maintenance-related functions within the IAF. These responsibilities support the serviceability and technical readiness of aircraft and associated equipment, as well as their operational effectiveness.

The visit highlighted leadership engagement with personnel in a remote operational setting. The celebrations also reflected the bonds among Air Warriors who continue their duties at forward locations during major festivals, away from home.
